About

Slate Nest is a contemporary art space in Guwahati that nurtures experimentation, making, and creative engagement across exhibitions, workshops, and community-centred projects. Founded in late 2024, it enriches the city’s cultural landscape with a dynamic platform for contemporary art that bridges artistic practice and everyday life. Slate Nest- CONTEMPORARY ART SPACE

Situated in Chinaki Kitap Ghar, Panbazar — a neighbourhood known for its bookshops and cross-artistic culture — Slate Nest offers a welcoming atmosphere for visitors to look, make, and think through art without pressure for finished outcomes. The space hosts exhibitions, artist-led workshops, talks, open studios, and other events that bring people together around creative process and dialogue. Slate Nest- CONTEMPORARY ART SPACE+1

Rooted in the belief that contemporary art resonates deeply with lived experience, Slate Nest connects global artistic conversations with local sensibilities. Its programming reflects existential and socio-political themes, and seeks to foster a culture of creative exploration and shared learning for artists, participants, and audiences alike.

Vision

Slate Nest envisions a space where contemporary art is experienced as a living process — shaped by making, thinking, and shared presence rather than finished outcomes alone.

We see art as something that unfolds through materials, conversations, and time, and as a way to engage deeply with place, everyday life, and the questions that shape our worlds.

Mission

Slate Nest exists to create space for experimentation, learning, and exchange.

Through exhibitions, workshops, and artist-led initiatives, we support practices that are process-driven, exploratory, and open to participation. We aim to make contemporary art accessible without simplifying it, and to foster a culture of curiosity, dialogue, and collective engagement in Guwahati and beyond.
