Baniprosonno lives in the Himalayas, in a small town at an altitude of two and a half thousand meters, with his wife, Putul. He was born in August in the 32nd year of the last century. Baniprosonno is an artist known for his diverse talents in drawing, painting, sculpting, and creating various objects. He has held well over a hundred solo exhibitions throughout his career.
His works have been displayed in numerous cities, including Kolkata, New Delhi, Mumbai, Kathmandu, Paris, London, Berlin, Amsterdam, Oslo, and Stockholm, among many others. Several prestigious institutions have invited him to showcase his creations, including the Commonwealth Institute in London, Kulturhuset in Stockholm, the Sonja Henie Art Center in Norway, Nordjyllands Kunstmuseum in Aalborg, Denmark, Kulturamt in Kiel, AOFA in Kolkata, Jahangir Art Gallery in Mumbai, La Passio Olesa in Barcelona, and Stein Am Rhein in Switzerland.
In addition to his exhibitions, he conducts creative workshops. Some of his notable workshops are titled “Phantastic Animals,” “Lamp and Insects,” “Wrap Rocks,” “Creative Paper Cutting,” and “Wonder Objects.” Passionate about creative cooking, he plans to publish a cookbook titled “Cooking Without a Cookbook.” He also writes poetry, fantasy tales, and nonsensical rhymes for children of all ages.

Baniprosonno had inspired me to dream about a gallery of my own, and that dream has blossomed into what we now know as The Slate Nest, a contemporary art hub in Guwahati! It’s a wonderful step forward in connecting the vibrant creativity of Northeast India with the beautiful Himalayas to the north. We’re really excited about the possibilities this space offers for artists and the community!
