Manash Talukdar’s work features assemblages made from found objects, reflecting a unique blend of creativity and resourcefulness. He first conceived this project after completing his B.F.A. from the College of Art in Delhi. Upon returning to Guwahati, he faced the heart breaking liquidation of his family’s electrical store due to bankruptcy. He saw potential in the discarded goods, recognizing their value beyond remnants of a lost business.
The transformation of these materials into expressive artworks not only highlights his creativity but also comments on consumption and waste. However, after his father’s unexpected passing in 2014, he experienced a deep creative block, struggling with grief and responsibilities.

In response, he decided to further his studies, enrolling at H.P. University in Shimla for an M.A. in Visual Arts. This marked a turning point, allowing him to channel his emotions into his work and rediscover his passion.
In 2017, he returned home infused with ideas and inspiration. He invested in a welding machine to transform discarded electrical goods into art, raising awareness about recycling and sustainable practices. Each assemblage tells a story, inviting reflection on overlooked values.

His journey faced another setback during the COVID-19 lockdown when he fell from the attic, compressing his lumbar spine. This left him bedridden for months, making it hard to work with heavier objects. Yet, displaying remarkable resilience, he adapted by using lighter materials, showing his determination to continue creating despite the challenges. His ongoing artistic practice embodies a heartfelt tribute to his father’s memory.
