On December 14, the ‘Art Party’ was organized by Slate Nest at the roadside bookshop called ‘Chinaki Kitap Ghar’ in Panbazar. This vibrant event served as an inaugural function, primarily attended by friends and family who were eager to celebrate the spirit of creativity and community. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as attendees mingled, sharing their thoughts and passions for art and literature.
The first activity paid tribute to Niki de Saint Phalle’s shooting painting, an engaging homage that encouraged participation from all ages. Participants and pedestrians worked together to shoot balloons filled with paint, transforming the act of art-making into a playful spectacle. When these balloons burst, they splattered colors on a large canvas placed next to them, creating an explosion of hues that captured the essence of the joyful chaos. Laughter and cheers echoed through the crowd, enhancing the experience as everyone reveled in the messy but beautiful outcome.
The second activity was visual storytelling, a creative endeavor that invited all participants to join in a collaborative artistic expression. With enthusiasm, everyone jumped up to draw on a big blackboard with chalk, freely creating various drawings that reflected their individual perspectives while also inviting dialogue. They interacted visually with each other’s artwork, exchanging ideas and inspiration; this exchange deepened their connections and sparked lively discussions. Subsequently, the participants crafted stories based on the drawings on the board, weaving their narratives together, and even devised a moral for the tale, encouraging reflection and critical thinking. The whole event was a remarkable blend of art, joy, and community bonding, leaving a lasting impression on everyone involved.
